Events · search & discovery engine Exit · 2022

Evensi

From Modena to Silicon Valley: the world's largest event search engine — all the way to exit.

Evensi is the event search-and-discovery engine founded in Modena in 2013. Powered by a proprietary AI engine that matches people's interests to the right events, it grew to process 200,000+ events a day with a community in nearly every country in the world, before its exit with US-based Events.com in 2022.

What it does

Evensi was born in Modena in 2013 from an intuition of Yuri Grassi, who kicked off the project together with co-founders Emanuele Corradini, Andrea Pelleschi, Paolo Privitera and Saverio Patruno, convinced that finding the right event should be as easy as searching for anything else online. The product is a search-and-discovery engine that aggregates and organises millions of events, using proprietary artificial-intelligence and machine-learning algorithms to match each person's interests to the most relevant events nearby.

Over the years the platform grew to process more than 200,000 events a day, building a community spread across nearly every country in the world: over 10 million organisers and 60 million people looking for experiences to live.

Evensi adopted a “dual company” model from the start: the technology core and R&D in Modena, business development and growth in the United States, between Silicon Valley and San Francisco. A model that paired Italian engineering talent with the scale of the US market, backed along the way by investors such as Primo Ventures and business angels, for a total of roughly $4 million raised.

In 2022 Evensi was acquired by Events.com, one of the leading US players in event management and ticketing. An exit that took a startup born in Emilia all the way to Silicon Valley — while keeping its technology core in Modena, which kept growing even after the acquisition.

Evensi's experience — building a global product from Modena, scaling it and taking it to exit — is one of the stories that shaped the method with which Junto today incubates, accelerates and grows new startups.
