Cyberport Venture Capital Forum 2026 opens in Hong Kong
The Cyberport Venture & Capital Forum 2026 (CVCF) officially opened on 4 November 2026 at Hong Kong Cyberport. Cyberport is the digital technology hub wholly owned by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The two-day forum runs under the theme “Scaling in a Changing World: Winning the Next Competitive Cycle”. It brings together more than 80 venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and global industry leaders. According to Cyberport’s press release, the Cyberport Venture event aims to position Hong Kong as a strategic gateway linking mainland China, ASEAN, the Middle East, Central Asia and global innovation and capital networks.
Cyberport Venture Capital Forum 2026: official opening in Hong Kong
The opening ceremony was led by Lillian Cheong, Acting Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, and Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport. Cheong said that turning AI’s potential into sustainable growth requires more than technology. It takes investment, entrepreneurial expertise and access to markets. The Hong Kong government will continue to strengthen support for promising ventures. It will also step up its own investments to mobilise private capital.
The programme covers the new frontiers of global venture. Topics include capital rerouting, Enterprise and Agentic AI, One-Person Companies, digital assets, frontier technologies and the tokenised economy. Chan described Hong Kong as a “super-connector” and “super value-adder” between mainland China and the world in a transforming capital landscape.
The Cyberport community’s fundraising results
The Cyberport community counts more than 2,400 companies, and startups at the hub have raised over HKD 74.5 billion in cumulative funding. In the past year, 19 listed companies and 2 unicorns joined the community. Notable recent funding rounds involved Finloop, Qupital and Premialab. These companies work with AI, blockchain and digital assets. According to Cyberport, the figures reflect market confidence in these technologies.
The Cyberport Investors Network celebrates nine years
Among the side events, the Cyberport Investors Network (CIN) marked its ninth anniversary with a handover of the chairmanship from Hendrick Sin to John Ng. Sin, Duncan Chiu and Cindy Chow were appointed Honorary Presidents. Since its establishment, CIN has facilitated over HKD 6 billion in investments across more than 130 projects. Sin listed as priorities strengthening deal flow quality, structured capital partnerships and relations with CVCs, PE firms, family offices and LPs.
Ng added that the network now counts nearly 250 investment firms. It aims to expand the network precisely in the corporate venture capital and family office communities. The Cyberport Macro Fund (CMF) is another key channel. As of September 2026 it had invested in 30 startup projects. Total investments, including co-investments, exceeded HKD 2.7 billion, and the co-investment ratio stood above 1:9.3. Strategic partnerships on venture funds were also sealed. They came in May 2026 with BOCHK Asset Management and BOC Group Investment, and in August 2026 with Taiping Financial Holdings.
New partnerships for global growth corridors
During the forum Cyberport signed two memoranda of understanding. The first, with Gobi Partners, concerns the growth of innovative companies, market expansion and investment opportunities across Hong Kong, Asia and the Middle East. The fund has already invested in more than 24 companies in the community, including through CMF co-investments. The second MoU was signed with Thailand’s National Innovation Agency. It promotes cross-border collaboration on AI, smart cities and digital technologies, covering soft-landing support, business matching, innovation programmes and pilot projects. Both agreements were signed by Cyberport CEO Rocky Cheng in the presence of Lillian Cheong.
The programme: from Taara’s keynote to the Agentic Economy Summit
The main stage opened with a keynote by Mahesh Krishnaswamy, founder and CEO of Taara. The keynote addressed the scalability of disruptive technologies, from moonshot projects to real-world high-speed optical communications solutions. Venture capitalists in discussion included Gobi Partners, Alumni Ventures, Rasmal Ventures, Primavera Capital, Draper Dragon, Pegasus Tech Ventures and Plug & Play. The first day featured Investor Matching, Innovator Showcase and Startup Clinic sessions, along with the Founder Pitch. The Founder Pitch was aimed at startups from early-stage through scale-up.
The second day hosts the Agentic Economy Summit “Intelligent Frontiers, Tokenised Horizons”, with a speech by Joseph Chan, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, on digital identity, institutional tokenisation, HKD stablecoins, programmable payments and machine-to-machine commerce, together with the rise of One-Person Companies, plus hands-on workshops for founders on pitching and scaling.
