OPPO to bring Manus agentic AI to Find X10 with Agent Mode
On October 13, 2026, OPPO and Manus announced a collaboration in an OPPO press release and a post on the Manus blog. Manus is a platform for AI agents capable of carrying out multi-step tasks. Manus’s agentic capabilities will debut in AI Mind Pilot, the assistant of the OPPO Find X10 series with ColorOS 17. The debut will come through a new mode called Agent Mode. Agentic AI thus arrives on consumer phones, not as a chatbot that answers questions, but as an assistant that completes a task. The assistant will have to understand the user’s final goal, break it down into multiple steps, choose the right tools and deliver a finished result. It will also work directly on files and photos stored on the device.
OPPO has chosen an external partner for agents. The goal is to bring automatic execution capabilities, and not just text generation, to the devices users carry in their pockets every day.
The agentic era arrives: how Agent Mode works in practice
The example OPPO gave concerns a trip. The user asks the assistant to organize their travel plans. AI Mind Pilot finds flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations and attraction tickets scattered across the phone’s various apps. It organizes them and combines them with online information to create a personalized day-by-day itinerary, without the user having to collect and upload the data manually.
The same capabilities cover creative and professional tasks. According to what the two companies communicated, the examples include finding and organizing photos from a trip and locating specific images. The assistant can also build a presentation, a proposal or a portfolio. This content comes from existing files on the phone and from online information, and requires a single prompt to produce a ready-to-use document.
Privacy stays on the device
Data protection takes center stage in the announcement. ColorOS 17 uses on-device models to understand and organize information locally. For tasks such as finding, organizing or renaming files and photos, the original content stays on the phone and is not shared with Manus.
When a task requires external processing, AI Mind Pilot asks for the user’s explicit confirmation before the content is uploaded or shared. The user remains in control of which information is accessed, which actions are performed and whether external processing is allowed. The two companies speak of transparent authorization as the condition for making agentic AI more capable without taking control away from those who use the phone.
“Smartphones are central to people’s daily lives and support many of the tasks they handle every day, making them a natural platform for personal AI agents,” said Tao Zhang, co-founder and chief product officer of Manus.
Zhang explained that the combination unites Manus’s agentic capabilities with OPPO’s system-level integration. The stated goal is to make advanced agents more accessible and complete multi-step tasks with simple and natural interactions.
What the announcement does not yet say
Several questions remain open. OPPO and Manus have not specified supported markets, availability dates or concrete benefits for users. Details will be announced only at the launch of the Find X10 series. It is unclear how many tasks will actually be executed locally and how many will go through external processing. This point determines both response speed and the exposure of personal data.
There is also a reliability issue. When an assistant that pulls together travel bookings and manages personal files gets something wrong, the consequences are heavier than when a chatbot gets an answer wrong. The two companies have not published data on accuracy or error rates. For competitors with proprietary assistants, OPPO’s choice to rely on an external partner like Manus represents an alternative strategy. Integrating ready-made agentic capabilities means not having to build them in-house.
The launch on the Find X10 will be the field test
The collaboration will debut on the OPPO Find X10 series with ColorOS 17, whose global launch is set for October 21 in Mallorca, where OPPO will also share availability details. AI Mind Pilot with Agent Mode will therefore be the first public test bench of the partnership. Users and observers will be able to verify there whether the assistant really handles travel itineraries, presentations and photo organization as described.
Kai Tang, President of Software Engineering at OPPO, set out the company’s aim: “Our goal is to make personal AI a natural part of everyday life and work.” For OPPO, the bet is that agentic AI becomes a reason to buy the phone, alongside the camera and battery life. For Manus, it is the opportunity to bring its capabilities to a mass distribution channel. Confirming both claims will be up to the launch: until then, the announcement remains a statement of intent with a privacy architecture already defined.
