World IoT Expo 2026 in Wuxi Puts AI Convergence First
The World IoT Expo has opened its doors in Wuxi, China, placing the convergence of artificial intelligence and industry at the heart of its 2026 edition. According to European Business Magazine, the event focuses on the development of intelligent connectivity and its potential to generate shared benefits. It is no longer just about collecting and transmitting data: devices are evolving toward information analysis, decision-making and autonomous action.
The Opening of the World IoT Expo in Wuxi
The central theme of the edition is the increasingly close link between the internet of things and artificial intelligence. Sensors allow devices to perceive their surrounding environment. Networks enable information sharing, while AI systems help interpret data and determine appropriate responses. A chain that transforms connectivity into operational capability across the entire production process.
The scale of the event is significant. The exhibition extends over more than 50,000 square meters. According to data released by the expo organizers, it has attracted more than 400 companies from nearly 20 countries and regions.
The Main Technologies on Display
Among the highlights on show are smart sensors and satellite-based IoT technologies. Robots equipped with embodied artificial intelligence and next-generation smart devices are also on display. The applications span manufacturing, transportation and everyday life.
The industrial strand is represented by robotics, machine vision systems and AI models applied to production. On the international front, Chinese companies are exhibiting alongside groups such as Bosch and Siemens. The organizers emphasize that this is a sign of cooperation opportunities across the different parts of the industrial supply chain.
For the participating companies, the expo is not just a showcase for new products. It is also a platform for connecting with manufacturers. It also serves to identify potential business partners and explore international collaborations.
Wuxi as an IoT Industry Hub
The location is no coincidence. Wuxi is a city with a solid manufacturing base, and the expo offers a look at its efforts to modernize its industrial economy. Since 2009 the city has been designated a national demonstration zone for sensor network innovation, and since then it has progressively built its own IoT industry. Revenue of the city’s major IoT companies reached 318.4 billion yuan in 2025. The figure corresponds to 44.7 billion US dollars, according to publicly available data.
The city’s established expertise in sensors, industrial internet systems and connected vehicles is extending toward artificial intelligence and robotics. The transition also receives policy support. A three-year action plan issued in 2026 by Jiangsu province identifies Wuxi as the core of its IoT industry development strategy. The plan calls for deeper integration between IoT and AI, particularly in essential industrial production processes.
